48 I/I MAGAZINE - 2019 playing arena polo at the age of 72. Mac did so much for so many. He still is sharing the gift of horses through Helping on Horseback because this program wouldn't exist had he not sent that bus to this 11 year old boy who is now 65. I am also so proud to have so many collegiate players that have helped carry this gift to the kids. Ashley Beyer and Samantha Huffman both Texas Tech polo club graduates have been incredible assets to the effort with Helping on Horseback. A number of my past SMU women players, Pam Flanagan, Chloe Carabassi, Kelsea West, Zara Walsh, Caroline Wilcoxin, Mary Hancock, Olivia Heatley, and others used to volunteer when we were closer to campus. Horses carry us in a number of different ways and I am thankful to be a part of the four legged world. SMU Polo's Barn manager and assistant coach Samantha Huffman (TEXAS TECH '14) also serves as an instructor in the HOH program, alongside Bridget Bello, a trainer at Flower Mound Farm. Pictured with Cricket, a familiar face on the SMU women's string.
