POLO REPORT Fort Knox’ Antonio Campos, Brian Warwick, Chavella Briones and Brent Hamill took the Sumter Marion Insurance 6-goal. Country Farms’ Joe Schneekloth, Ken Cresswell and Robert Ceparano. Country Farms took an early 6-2 lead in the first chukker. But Schwartz shortened its lead in the second half after scoring a 2-pointer for Aliano Realty. Schwartz continued to be on fire, and managed to give Aliano the lead, which it maintained on its way to an 18- 14 win. Schwartz scored 14 goals for Aliano. Two weeks prior Schwartz and Aliano found themselves in the winner’s circle again, this time with Tommy Biddle taking the third spot. The trio took the USPA National 12-goal Arena Handicap played as a round-robin under the lights. Taking second place was Cornell Polo’s Nick Stieg, Johnny Redlich and 10-goal Mariano Aguerre. Lion’s Heart, with Marcello Dorea, Naco Taverna and Enrique Bauzada, took third place. Aliano’s first win came in the USPA 12-goal Joe Rizzo Memorial, played in memory of the Hall of Fame’s Iglehart Award winner Joe Rizzo. Rizzo taught the game to many people on Long Island. Country Farms owner Bob Ceparano is trying to carry on that tradition by bringing Long Island’s new, seasoned and interscholastic players together. 58 POLO PLAYERS EDITION Morgan Stanley’s Janis Pascarella, Kelly Beck, Paige Boone and Sunny Hale downed Citizen’s First in the WCT Women’s Tournament. her husband Peter Daly Coach Bob Ceparano, Kelsey Burke, Emily Sears, Claire Stieg, Jessica Walsh, Lee Ann McCoy, Lauren Biddle and coach Tommy Biddle. Aliano Realty’s Nick Aliano, Horton Schwartz and Cristian Vazquez won three arena tourneys. Jerry Napp and Bob Ceparano flank them. In the Rizzo Memorial final, Aliano Realty’s Nick Aliano, Tommy Biddle and Horton Schwartz kept a step ahead of Yoshii Galleries’ Joe and Dan Yoshii, Enrique Bauzada and Naco Taverna. After being down 6-2 at the half, Yoshii Galleries managed to keep pace with Aliano in the second half but it was not enough to overcome the earlier deficit and Aliano took the 11-6 win. High- scorer was Tommy Biddle with six goals to his credit. Rizzo’s daughter Maria and presented the trophies. In other action, the Country Farms Interscholastic team edged Laurel Oaks 7-5 in a ladies only tournament. Country Farms’ Claire Stieg, Emily Sears and Kelsey Burke were coached by Bob Ceparano while Laurel Oaks’ Jessica Walsh, Lee Ann McCoy and Lauren Biddle were coached by Tommy Biddle. Country Farms jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first chukker. Laurel Oaks answered in the second with Lauren Biddle converting two penalty shots and a field goal while holding Country Farms scoreless. Country Farms came back in the third with a pair of unanswered goals to take a 6-4 lead. The teams traded goals in the fourth giving Country Farms the 7-5 win. Kelsey Burke led all scorers with four goals. Biddle led Laurel Oaks with three. Action at the club continues throughout the winter in the comfortable indoor arena. —Debra Napp
