In the fourth, Fonseca tied the score then traded goals with Salinas to keep it even. Escapite gave Bloomfield the lead in the fifth but a pair of Penalty 3 conversions by Mesker put Brookland back on top. After Fonseca scored again, a Penalty 4 conversion by Salinas kept Brookland on top. Escapite wasted no time in the last period as he took control of the ball and sent it through the upright to tie the score at 10-all. Brookland was awarded four Penalty 5s but was unable to turn them into scoring drives. Meanwhile Escapite nailed a Penalty 2 to give Bloomfield the lead. Brookland failed to reach the goal and time ran out leaving Bloomfield holding the trophies. In other action, Agua Enerviva took the Hall of Fame Challenge Cup 9-4 over Bloomfield. Martin Jauregui led Agua Enerviva with four goals, while Matthew Fonseca scored all of Bloomfield's goals. HEATHCOTE ACQUIRES INTRA CIRCUIT 12-GOAL Five-goal Tatin Zubiaurre proved to be a scoring machine in the final of the USPA Intra Circuit 12-goal held at the Mashomack Polo Club in Pine Plains, New York on August 14. Zubiaurre scored eight goals to lead Heathcote to victory over Dark Horse. VANLITH RANCH WINS SOUTHAMPTON 4-GOAL Mark VanLith led his team to victory in a 4-goal final at the Southampton Polo Club in Southampton, New York on October 1. VanLith Ranch edged Ikepod 6-5 in the four-chukker match. VanLith scored half of its goals in the as Hugo Tagliaferro first period connected on a penalty shot and Mark VanLith and Chris Briere each scored while Ikepod was silent. Tomas Alberdi put Ikepod on the board in the second, but Mark VanLith answered with two to take a 5-1 lead at the half. Zubiaurre was joined by Parker Thorne, Oakley Thorne and Francisco Lanusse. Dark Horse had Drew Fairclough, Max Menini, Michel Dorignac and Sara Rotman. Dark Horse struck first with a goal by 7-goal Dorignac to negate a handicap goal given to Heathcote. Zubiaurre's Penalty 3 conversion put Heathcote briefly ahead, then he traded goals with Menini. The teams matched goals in the next two periods leaving Heathcote ahead 6-5 at the half. The teams matched each other goal for goal in the second half too, allowing Heathcote to maintain its one-goal lead at the final bell. Zubiaurre was named MVP pro while Fairclough took MVP amateur. Heathcote's Oakley Thorne, Tatin Zubiaurre, Francisco Lanusse, and Parker Thorne won the USPA Intra Circuit 12-goal at Mashomack. In the third, Marcos Alberdi and Adam Lindemann scored while holding VanLith to a single penalty conversion from Tagliaferro. Marcos Alberdi and Geronimo Obregon scored in the fourth to come within one but the final horn ended Ikepod's' hopes. It had won the half, but VanLith had won the game. LAMPIRE SUCCESSFUL IN WOMEN'S CHALLENGE With Hurricane Irene blowing through the Northeast, rain weeks Club in Frenchtown, New Jersey was fortunate to finish out its season with two cups. The first was the Women's Challenge Cup played between Arby Dobb and Lampire. Audrey VanLuvanee, on Best Playing Pony Kit Kat, wasted no time in getting Lampire on the board. VanLuvanee Oniskey and traded teammate Ann goals with Erica Chapman and Val Washington in the second and third chukkers to keep it close. Goals from Meg Mullen, Chapman and Victoria Halliday put Arby Dobb ahead in the fourth, but Lampire brought it even by the end of the sixth.
